Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence. Â ~Vince Lombardi
During a recent morning devotion I read these words from King Solomon in the book of Ecclesiastes: Â If you wait for perfect conditions you will never get anything done. Â (11:4)
The desire for perfection is a double edge sword.
I know a lot of talented people who get very little done because everything they do needs to be perfect. Â I also know talented people who get a lot done in a haphazard way because they are unable to control their urge for simply getting something done.
There is a place between perfection and haphazard and that is where I try to live. Â In Lombardi’s quote, he calls this place “catching excellence.” Â We “catch excellence” when we chase perfection knowing perfection will never be caught.
Whatever you do, do it with excellence knowing you will never be perfect.
