People Pleasing

When you live to please people, your peace is on loan. When you live to please God, your peace is secure.

Today is Day 13 of our 31-day journey, where we’re diving deep into how the enemy uses fear to hold us back from becoming all God created us to be.

Reflection:

Fear of others’ opinions can be paralyzing.

I used to be the ultimate people pleaser. Then I found that chasing approval is a trap—it forces you to wear masks God never asked you to put on, and before you know it, you don’t know who you are.

A potent antidote to people-pleasing is having a personal mission statement and clear guiding principles that reflect your goals, who you are, and what you stand for.

I created mine years ago, and they keep me focused on God’s mission for my life—not others’ opinions:

Mission: Inspire others to dream more, be more, and live in the light more.

Guiding Principles: Do Right — Give Mercy — Be Humble — (Micah 6:8)

Soul Search:

Whose opinion are you giving too much power? Do you know your life mission? Do you have a set of principles that guide your behavior while on your mission?

“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God?” – Galatians 1:10 (NIV)
