Reflection
A few days ago, I hit a wall.
Our daughter’s wedding.
The holidays.
Battling through a strained knee and busted elbow bursa…it’s heck getting old. 🙂
For someone wired to move, build, and push forward, stillness doesn’t come naturally. My mind kept reaching for the next task, the next idea, the next responsibility.
But instead of fighting it, I finally listened.
I accepted that on this Wednesday—New Year’s Eve—was meant to be a sabbath.
I sat in front of the fire, let the noise quiet down, and allowed my body and soul to settle into a gentle rhythm.
No striving.
No proving.
Just being.
Taking a pause and resting reminded me that we are not human doings; we are human beings.
Fact
God invites us to stop not because we are weak, but because rest is how He refuels us.
Soul Search
- What is my body or soul trying to tell me that I’ve been ignoring?
- What would it look like to intentionally practice a weekly sabbath?
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
