Endless Self Creating

To exist is to change; to change is to mature; to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.

— Henri Bergson —

Reflection

The opening quote struck me with a sobering truth—the longer I live, the clearer I see the finish line of my earthly race. Time has a way of sharpening perspective. With every passing year, eternity feels less like a distant concept and more like the next chapter waiting just beyond the horizon.

As I walk steadily toward my seventh decade, my hunger for growth has only intensified. I’m not interested in coasting. I want to finish stronger than I started. So each day, I lean into growth—striving to become more faithful, more present, more disciplined in the roles God has entrusted to me:

  • Christ-follower
  • Husband
  • Dad
  • Grandad
  • Coach
  • Writer
  • Teacher
  • Podcaster

These aren’t titles—they’re callings. And every day is an invitation to show up, get better, and live with purpose.

Soul Search

Which role(s) in your life is God urging you to elevate—and what small step can you take today to honor that call?

Thought

Imagine how different our world would be if every person focused on growing—one day at a time—in the roles that matter most.

Scripture

Hebrews 6:1
“Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity…”
