Changing Minds

Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.

— George Bernard Shaw —

Reflection

Shaw’s quote reminded me that all change is preceded first by changing our thoughts.

I learned so much from my Ironman journey five years ago.

For years, I thought I could never achieve this crazy dream because I always popped my calf muscles during long runs, and 26.2 miles is most certainly a long run–especially after swimming 2.4 miles and biking 112 miles.

Then, I recall sitting and thinking about what I could do to prevent this injury from occurring. Three things came to mind: I could change my running form. Two, I could change my style of running shoes, and three, I could begin doing calf raises to strengthen my calf muscles.

I did all three, and the rest is history.

Questions

Are you seeking progress in some aspect of your life?

Have you changed your mind/thinking if you aren’t making progress?

Give it a try.

You may end up doing something you once thought was impossible.

Romans 12:1-2, “I appeal to you, therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
