October Change and Perfection

Positive change will never take place in our life if we require the circumstances surrounding it to be perfect.

Reflection

This is an add-on from yesterday’s writing.

Dealing with my addiction disorder made me crazy.

I knew I needed to stop.

I wanted to stop.

But I couldn’t stop.

I would make vow after vow to myself, “Tomorrow will be the day!”

Then tomorrow came, and I began the crazy cycle again.

For some reason, I thought I had to stop on my own with no one knowing I ever had a problem. I wanted to put this period in my life behind me without anyone knowing.

Maybe it was the stigma associated with being an addict???

Maybe it was part of the denial process–me telling me I really wasn’t that bad???

Whatever the case–

I COULD NOT THINK MY WAY OUT OF A PROBLEM I HAD BEHAVED MYSELF INTO, AFTER ALL, MY BEST THINKING HAD TAKEN ME TO THIS CRAZY MOMENT IN MY LIFE.

Facts

As Captain Obvious would say, “Change takes action.”

As a person in recovery for over thirty-four years would say, “Major change takes help.”

Once I quit trying to fix my problem on my own and surrendered my crazy thinking to the help of experts, I began to recover.

Question

Have you tried to change an aspect of your life several times to no avail?

If so, maybe it’s time to ask for help.

Let me repeat myself–MAYBE IT’S TIME TO ASK FOR HELP!!!

I always write from experience.

Proverbs 12:15, “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.”
