Wise Change

A wise man changes his mind, a fool never will.

— Icelandic Proverb —

Reflection

After seeing the opening quote, I shake my head, thinking of all my incorrect views and opinions over the years.

There was a time when I was very opinionated about those who couldn’t control their drinking. “They lack willpower,” I used to say–and then it happened to me.

People are so opinionated and bullish with their points of view these days. Well, maybe it’s not any worse than it’s always been, but because of social media, everyone has a platform to share their wisdom or foolishness with the world.

I decided many years ago that the only thing I will never change my mind about is that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and that no one comes to the Father except through Jesus. (John 14:6)

Thought

Some are set in their ways, and some are set in His ways.

Question

Which way gives you a better chance of being wise?

Scripture to wrap your mind around…

James 3:17, “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.”

Final Question

How is James 3:17 working in your life today?

Fact

I still have work to do.
