Change requires a change in thinking…
The opening quote reminded me of one of my daily spiritual exercises.
At the end of my morning devotion, I write a scripture verse in my journal with the intent of eventually memorizing it.
It usually takes me about seven days before a verse becomes indelibly etched in my mind.
This past week I’ve been focused on Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–His good, pleasing, and perfect will.”
Romans 12:2 is growing on me.
Every time I write it down, it jars a different area in my brain and spirit.
I’ve always known that scripture is God-breathed and alive, but I find Romans 12:2 to be bigger than life–at least it is to me.
The words, be transformed by the renewing of your mind, forces me to challenge my thoughts.
- Are my thoughts of the world?
- Are my thoughts preventing me from transforming (changing)?
- Are my thoughts reflective of Him or the world?
I know–some deep stuff.
Now back to the shallow end.
Positive change requires learning and unlearning–reread the opening quote.
Questions
What changes are you trying to make in your life?
What do you need to learn?
What do you need to unlearn?
Have you asked Him for help?
Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
