No Debt…Know Peace

Although I’v read the follow scripture many times, this morning it “jumped” out at me and said “blog me.”  So here it goes.

1 Timothy 6:6-8, “Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth.  After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it.  So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.  But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.  For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.  And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.”

My translation is avoid the trap many Americans have fallen into.  Always live below your means and godliness with contentment is an automatic, wonderful by-product of living this way.  Live beyond your means and you will always be running and trying to catch up.  Debt is the great lie of the 20th and 21st century.  The devil loves debt because when we are leveraged beyond our means we are distracted from living the way God wants us to live.  The devil will distract us in whatever way he can and he lives in those little plastic cards we all carry with us.

No Debt…Know Peace.   Know Debt…No Peace.
