New Year New You

Be at war with your vices, peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better man.

— Benjamin Franklin —

I love the opening quote by Ben Franklin, and it should be the primary goal for all of us every year.

Indeed we can wage war on one vice and make peace with one person this year–can’t we?

Life is too short not to do what we know we need to do.

So what vice do you need to wage war on this year?

What vice prevents you from being all God has called you to be?

Write it down and prayerfully turn it over to God daily.

What neighbor are your spirit and mind calling you to make peace?

Is there someone you’ve wronged, or is there someone who has wronged you?

Write their name down and prayerfully turn the relationship over to God daily.

God won’t relieve you of your vice and strained relationship immediately, but if you remain steadfast in daily prayer, He will eventually lift both…I write from experience.

Galatians 5:22, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,”

A New Year Prayer–Heavenly Father, thank you for a new year and thank you for your never-ending presence. I want to make 2022 my best year ever, but I know I can’t do it when I’m holding onto people and things that prevent me from being all you’ve made me to be.

Would you please give me the willingness to turn my 2022 goals over to you and follow through on what You and I know needs to be done? You know the vice I need to work on and the relationship that needs repairing. So let’s get this done in 2022!!!

It’s in Your Son’s name, I pray. Amen.
