Autumn Renewal

You must learn a new way to think before you can master a new way to be.

Reflection

For as long as I can remember, September has been a time of year for my brain to seek new perspectives and goals. I’ve always viewed it as a month for renewal and personal growth.

This happens because school always started in September when I was a kid.

As much as I disliked school, I was always excited about the change it would bring me and, of course, the new games we would play at recess…my favorite class. 🙂

This also happens because the transition from summer to fall begins now.

The summer-to-fall transition is nature’s most potent and beautiful seasonal change.

I still am in awe when I remove the hard, spiky covering of a shiny, radiant buckeye this time of year. It is kind of like our lives…sometimes we need to remove our “hard spiky shell” to find our beauty and potential inside.

September is Preparation for Growth Month

Why not make September the month for the beginning of a powerful and beautiful change in your life?

Why not make September the month you begin to remove the “hard, spiky shell” that serves as a roadblock to your growth?

We all have “buckeyes” just waiting to be revealed for the new season.

Anecdotal Truth

I recall a time, a couple of years ago, where I spent a week on the pity pot.

I was battling my age.

Said differently, I was getting ticked off because I was aging. 🙂

Then God presented a scripture I’ve held onto ever since…

Now that I am old and gray do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me. (Psalm 71:18)

I write the above scripture at the end of my morning journaling daily to remind me of my role as a maturing (in age) adult.

My renewal and growth beginning this September (tomorrow) are focused on remaining committed to inspiring those I serve to dream more, be more, and live in His light more…regardless of my age and hair color…BTW…I am not gray. 🙂

Questions

  • What growth and renewal will you seek for this new season?
  • What systems and habits must you add to your life to make it happen?
  • What systems, habits, and “hard spiky shells” must you eliminate to create a clear path to your new goal(s)?

Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
