National Recovery Month – Day 4 – Stay In Today

Do not ruin today with mourning tomorrow.

— Caherynne M. Valente —

Reflection

“One day at a time” sounded almost too simple when I first entered recovery.

Then I discovered its wisdom.

I don’t have to stay sober forever today.

I only have to live faithfully and do the next right thing today.

Worry pulls us into tomorrow.

Regret drags us into yesterday.

God meets us in the present.

Fact

Recovery happens in ordinary twenty-four-hour increments—one decision, one prayer, one phone call, one right action at a time. When tomorrow arrives, God will be there too. For now, today’s grace is enough.

Soul Search

Am I living today, or mentally somewhere else?

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” — Matthew 6:34
