Reflection
A big breakthrough took place in my sobriety journey when I learned that recovery wasn’t only about what I put into my body. It was also about what I allowed into my mind.
Stinkin’ thinkin’ can take us places we don’t want to go.
Catastrophizing.
Comparing.
Resenting.
Rationalizing.
Feeling sorry for ourselves.
Assuming the worst.
Our thoughts influence our actions, and repeated thoughts eventually shape our lives.
Recovery requires learning to challenge the voice in your head rather than automatically believing everything it says…one of many reasons why it’s important to have a sponsor (wise counsel) who can help keep the “committee in your head” at bay.
My brain is like a bad neighborhood; I shouldn’t go there alone.
Soul Search
What thought have I been repeatedly feeding that isn’t helping me become who God wants me to be?
