Reflection
Step Seven says we humbly ask God to remove our shortcomings. Click here to see the full Twelve Steps as noted in my September 2 writing.
Humility isn’t humiliation. It’s seeing ourselves accurately: strengths, weaknesses, gifts, flaws, and our complete dependence upon God.
Addiction fed my ego while simultaneously destroying my self-worth. Recovery began restoring both to their proper place.
I don’t have to be the greatest, smartest, strongest, or most important person in the room. I simply need to be teachable.
Humility allows God and others to help us become what we cannot become on our own.
