Egarrogance

Ego and arrogance (egarrogance...you won't find it in Webster's) are poison to personal and/or organizational growth. Their antidote is humility.

I’m 56 years old and not a day goes by where I am not trying to learn something new.

I’ve witnessed a fair share of lives and organizations stunted in their growth because of the twin poisons of ego and arrogance which often tell us we “know everything.”

I learned many years ago the only way to expand is to practice humility by becoming less.  Some simple steps in making this happen:

1. First, admit you do not have all the answers.

2. Seek God’s wisdom in all you do.  (Remember EGO is Easing God Out)

3. Seek help from others who’ve been where you are trying to go.

4. Always  try  to understand others instead of judging as this practice alone will help convert ignorance (dumber version of arrogance) to wisdom.  Always be open to other points of view…understanding does not mean agreeing.

5.  Never, ever, ever, ever, read your “newspaper clippings,” and if you do, don’t believe them.

6.  I believe I will stop with five points because if I share everything I’ve learned about suppressing ego and arrogance as well as ignorance…it would take you my lifetime to read…if you know what I’m saying. 🙂
