If you do not know how to care for money, money will stay away from you. Â ~Robert Kyosaki
The final component in our Wheel of Life is Financial.
I’ve seen a lot of lives crumble and fall due to poor handling of finances and is the reason why I include it as one of the key components of our Wheel of Life.
The Bible references money over 800 times and money and possessions over 2,000 times. Â This tells me God knows mankind has some serious issues with how to responsibly handle money.
My favorite Jesus parable of all time was when he was confronted by a rich young ruler. Â From a societal and religious standpoint the young ruler had it all together. Â But Jesus found his weak spot.
Matthew 19:16-30, Someone came to Jesus with this question: Â “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” Â “Why ask me about what is good?” Â Jesus replied. Â “There is only One who is good. But to answer your question–if you want to receive eternal life, keep the commandments.” Â
“Which ones?” Â the man asked.
And Jesus replied: Â “You must not murder. Â You must not commit adultery. Â You must not steal. Â You must not testify falsely. Â Honor your father and mother. Â Love your neighbor as yourself.”
“I’ve obeyed all these commandments,” the young man replied. Â “What else must I do?”
Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Â Then come, follow me.”
But when the young man heard this, he went away sad, for he had many possessions.
There are various translations of this scripture but I believe Jesus knew this young man was very much into his money and possessions…most likely to a point where he idolized them more than he did God.
I’m also guessing the hub of this young man’s Wheel of Life was finances and Jesus busted him for it.
Money is great as long as it doesn’t become our God.
