Will

The best way to turn good into great is to speak “will” instead of “want.”

— JMeyer —

Years ago I can remember having this vision for our pharmacy and it was all about wanting to become a world-class, highly respected, nursing home pharmacy.

In that moment, I decided to turn our want into will, by speaking will instead of want.

From that point on, instead of thinking and speaking in terms of “wanting to become,” we all began to speak in terms of “we will become.”  And I believe it is safe to say it made all the difference.

Which are more powerful statements?

I want to own my own business or I will own my own business.

I want to be a great spouse or I will be a great spouse.

I want to lose weight or I will lose weight.

I want to do good in the world or I will do good in the world.

I want to follow Jesus or I will follow Jesus.

What do you want to become?  Write it down.  Then change your vocabulary and begin speaking in terms of what you will be.  Slowly but surely your want will be replaced by your will.
