Pick Up Your Life and Walk

Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else.

— Les Brown —

Reflection

The quote from Les Brown reminds me of the following scripture:

John 5:6-9, “When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, ‘would you like to get well?’  ‘I can’t sir,’ the sick man said, ‘for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up.  Someone else always gets there ahead of me.  Jesus told him, ‘stand up, pick up your mat, and walk.!’  Instantly the man was healed!  He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking!”

So often, we forget no one can pick up our mat (life) for us.

We have to decide to pick it up, and sometimes the first step in picking up our “mat” is asking God for help.

God is often the only force powerful enough to dissolve the glue holding our “mat” to the floor…that glue is called fear.

Question

What fear is preventing you from picking up your mat and walking in a new direction?

Solution

Name it.

Claim it.

and

Dump it into His hands, and soon your mat will be mobilized into a new and exciting direction.

I always write from experience.

Psalm 23:4, Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Isaiah 41:13, For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
