Reflection
This weekend, the Winter Olympics open and Super Bowl LX takes place. Both are global stages where years of unseen preparation are distilled into seconds and minutes of performance.
I get emotional when the camera focuses on a world-class athlete’s face during a competition because my mind homes in on all the sacrifice, repetitions, setbacks, sweat, and tears poured into that moment.
No one calls it luck (see opening quote) in the weight room, the film room, or the early morning grind. Yet when the moment arrives, preparation looks like favor.
God often works the same way.
Long before you’re given the opportunity to use the gifts God has entrusted to you, He forms faithfulness, discipline, and trust in the quiet; alone in His Word, in prayer, seeking His will and the strength to live it out one more day.
When opportunity arrives, readiness reveals both His work in you and your obedience along the way.
We all have the ability to be God’s world-class athletes, i.e., disciples.

1 Corinthians 9:24, “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”
