Random Thoughts and The Truth

He not busy being born is dying.  ~Bob Dylan

Let’s take a break from building a life of purpose so “yours truly” can regurgitate some random thoughts.

Here goes:

1. I knew the Tebow experiment wasn’t going to work for the Jets.

2. Ray Lewis prays and nothing is said about it, Tebow prays and everybody thought he was a weirdo.

3. I picked the Ravens to win the Super Bowl way back in week one when they spanked my Bengals…that doesn’t mean I like the Ravens.

4. As far as Manti Te’o goes…with social media all things are possible.

5. With Lance Armstrong as with all things; where there is smoke there is fire.

—-If you don’t care about sports, please disregard random thoughts one through five.—-

6. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.  With that being said, and yes I have my CCW, I would be in favor of banning semi-automatic assault weapons…if you don’t care, please disregard.

7. Economics 101 taught me there is absolutely, positively, no way anyone, including our federal government, can spend its way out of debt…if you don’t care, please disregard…on second thought you may want to figure out why you don’t care.

8. I miss J-Lo and Steven Tyler on American Idol…just not the same…if you don’t care, please disregard.

9. Did Beyonce lip sync at the inauguration?  I will disregard because I don’t care.

—-Now back to real life and what’s really important…whether you follow God or not; please do not disregard the following:

10. After watching the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States, which included listening and viewing a most beautiful rendition of “Battle Hymn of The Republic,” by The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, (click here to see the video…pure beauty) the following thought came to mind:

As a follower of Christ I try my best to not take sides, instead I search for truth.

My responsibility as a follower of Christ is to love people regardless of how they view life, death, and all the activities in-between.

The faith walk of any Christ follower is tested when what he or she believes to be truth is considered a lie to others; there are no half-truths or half-lies.

There is but one truth the Christian must never forget in order for Christ’s death and resurrection to not go in vain:

We are called to love in all situations regardless of what man does to all other “truths.” Christ loved us after we crucified him for being a “liar.”

Therefore if we love our way all the way to heaven, that truth alone will always set us free…not an easy task, but a challenge all Christ-followers need to take seriously.

Finding and living “truth” is a process, it is not an event but will never be found if we don’t first commit to living the most important truth according to Jesus which is to love God and our fellow man just the same. (see Mark 12 below)

…His truth is marching on whether we agree or not…

Amen.

One last random thought to Lance Armstrong:  Your first wife gave you the best advice anyone can give another human being…the truth will indeed set you freeI write from experience.

…we will continue with desire tomorow…

Mark 12: 28-31, “One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating.  Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

“The most important one,” answered Jesus “is this:  ‘Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.  Love the Lord with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’  The second is this:  Love your neighbor as yourself.’  There is no commandment greater than these.”

John 8:31-33, “To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.  Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
