Living Ready: What It Really Means to Optimize Your God-Given Gifts

"Being” is far more important than “doing.” When we are what we should be inside, we will bring forth fruit.

— Billy Graham —

If you’ve ever received an email from me, you’ve seen it at the bottom: Live Ready. Those two words aren’t filler; they’re an aspirational conviction. Years ago, I landed on that phrase while wrestling with a simple but demanding question: What does it actually take to live as a ready warrior for Christ every day?

In my latest Higher Leading Podcast episode, I unpack what Live Ready means, where it came from, and why it matters now more than ever. Give it a listen by clicking HERE.

Reflection

What does it actually mean to live ready? In my most recent Higher Leading Podcast, I unpack a simple but life-changing acrostic — R.E.A.D.Y. — that captures what it looks like to walk in daily faithfulness: Relinquish your self-will, Embrace obedience, Attend to others, Dwell on eternity, and Yield your gifts to purpose.

Drawing on Scripture and voices like C.S. Lewis, Oswald Chambers, Mother Teresa, and John Piper, I explore why dying to self comes first, why obedience flows from relationship rather than obligation, and why the gifts in your hand right now, not the ones you wish you had, are exactly what you’re called to steward.

Living Ready isn’t about arriving at a finished state. It’s about choosing, one day at a time, to continuously evolve into a state of Jesus-following Readiness.

Matthew 24:44, “Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
