Reflection
As mentioned previously, November is gratitude month, and I’m still riding the wave from last week’s Via Nova (New Path) advance. Yes, advance. Go on enough retreats, and you’ll fall way behind. 🙂
During Via Nova, I spend eight hours walking, reflecting, and journaling on eight topics. Gratitude comes early, and that hour always leaves me refreshed…a grateful heart beats the enemy every day of the week. Anyway, about 95 percent of what I’m thankful for is the people God has placed in my life.
Today marks one year since my very first paid coaching client passed into eternity. I’m forever indebted to him for giving me a chance. He took our work seriously, and his legacy shows it. He gave his best as a man of God, husband, dad, business leader, and friend. I learned so much from working with him.
Many of the people I’m most grateful for are gone, but dog gone it, their spirit is still alive, and it’s my responsibility to pass it on.
Today’s thought reminds me of Deuteronomy 6:11: We drink from wells we did not dig. In this scripture, God promises Israel, “wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant” (NIV). If I live in a way that passes on the legacy I’ve received from those I’ve benefited from, those who follow me for generations will benefit without ever knowing who did the digging… the cool thing is…God knows.
The name fades but the fingerprints remain.

Do the people who have impacted you positively know how grateful you are for them?
What borrowed legacies are you passing on to positively impact others?
