Light Representative

Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

When we make the commitment  to do our best to follow Jesus’ ways, He calls us to be a light to the world and it is impossible for us to be a light to the world if we always have the light pointed towards us.

The devil uses the world and its people in an attempt to put our light onto us.  In essence the more inward focus the devil can get us to be the less outward focus our light (Jesus) can become and in the end we become poor representatives of the Lord.

One of the many quotes I came up with helps remind me of this on a daily basis; “In order for my light to be a lamp to the world, I need to understand I am not the world.”

What direction is your light shining towards?  Is it outward focused or inward focused?  It is pretty easy to tell by simply writing down the thougths that are going through your head today.  Are they poor me, damn them thoughts or are they grateful me, help them thoughts?

Years ago my light was so focused on me, I became blind to the world and what a horrible, miserable place that is.  Commit to shine your light outward instead of inward and life becomes much easier to live.

BTW…ask God to give you the willingness and strength to change the direction of your light…you will be amazed.
