Let Go and Let God

Some of us think holding on makes us strong, but sometimes it is letting go.

— Hermann Hesse —

Reflection:

One thing I learned in golf a long time ago is not to hold the club grip too tightly.

Gripping it too tightly takes away the fluidity of the swing, where you let the clubhead do the work. This flaw offers up a myriad of problems in the game. I always write from experience. 🙂

When we hold on too tightly in life—whether to unhealthy situations from the past, a dream that’s run its course, a job, or control over others—we often create tension in our lives which robs us of peace of mind.

Said differently, holding tightly to people, places, things, and situations out of our control is an energy drain.

Lettting go doesn’t mean giving up; it means opening space for something new to enter. It shifts our grip from clenched fists to open hands, and open hands can both release to and receive from God.

Soul Search:

What are you holding on to that God is nudging you to release?
