The season of Lent begins tomorrow. Lent is a Christian observance where we deny our flesh and nourish our spirit daily to draw closer to the Lord in anticipation of His resurrection on Easter.
My Lenten writings for 2022 will be similar to those from 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic was in its early stages and fear of the unknown was consuming our spirits.
What is so disheartening is that we’ve pretty much learned how to live with COVID-19 but now we are faced with an unprovoked war in Ukraine that has the world sitting on the edge of its seat.
But let’s get real…the world has always been in turmoil and conflict, but people now can use their social media platforms as accelerants to take the madness to new heights.
The enemy loves turmoil. Just the other day, I observed two “Christian” “friends” on Facebook throwing nasty jabs at each other due to their political beliefs.
God loves peace and could care less about our politics.
Peace conquers turmoil and controversy every day of the week, and for the next six and a half weeks, I will be floating thoughts about peace your way.
Back to the opening quote–I hope our journey through Lent helps you identify and shield yourself from all the unnecessary turmoil in the world so that the Necessary energy will speak to you and lead you to a life of peace.
John 16:33, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
