Encourage and Change a Day

Encouragement is awesome. It can actually change the course of another person's day.

— Chuck Swindoll —

A few weeks ago, I was walking with Jordan at our local Mall, and we crossed paths with a former employee of mine.

We stopped and chatted for a few minutes and moved on.

Then about twenty minutes later, I heard a voice yelling, “Hey Jay.” I turned around, and the lady I had run into earlier was jogging our way.

When she reached us, she shook my hand, looked me in the eyes, and said, “Thanks for all you did for me when you were running the pharmacy.”

Tears were in her eyes as she smiled, turned, and walked away.

I have no idea what I did for her, but I know what she did for me at that moment.

Her gesture not only changed the course of that day but several days that followed. (reread the opening quote)

Who is God nudging you to encourage? See the second question below…a great way to bring light to His world is by encouraging others.

Peace is not ours to keep; it’s ours to share.

Proverbs 12:25, “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad. “

Journal your thoughts:

What am I grateful for today?

In what way(s) will I bring light to the world today?

What will I deny myself so I may draw closer to God and gain more peace in my life today?

Prayer:

God, I offer myself to Thee—To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always! Amen.
