Assumptions, Ponies, and Peace

Today I escaped from the crush of circumstances, or better put, I threw them out, for the crush wasn't from outside me but in my own assumptions.

— Marcus Aurelisu —

You may have heard the story about the farmer who took his grandson to a pile of manure outside the farmer’s barn. This was going to be the grandson’s first-ever exercise in hauling manure. As the boy approached the pile of manure his face lit up with a huge smile. The farmer asked him, “What are you so happy about, boy?” The child replied, “Grandpa, I just know there’s got to be a pony at the bottom of that pile of manure.”

Back to the opening quote…

Who and what create your assumptions of the world?

From where do you receive your facts?

Our assumptions often determine whether our life is full of peace and ponies or full of chaos and manure.

Oh and by the way:

No news

Know ponies and peace…

Journal your thoughts:

What am I grateful for today?

In what way(s) will I bring light to the world today?

What will I deny myself so I may draw closer to God and gain more peace in my life today?

Prayer:

God, I offer myself to Thee—To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always! Amen.
