Silencing The Opposition

I want to live my life in such a way that when I get out of bed in the morning, the devil says, "Oh crap, he's up!

Reflection

I’m a March Madness junkie.

I love this time of year because I love the game of basketball.

The opening quote reminded me of the type of basketball teams I played on in high school and college. Our opposition always knew they were in for a battle when they faced us. Sometimes you could see fear written all over their faces.

We were well-prepared.

We were tough.

We were well-conditioned.

We were focused on the moment.

Our world is in chaos right now and now is a time, more than ever before, to be a Christ-follower that the opposition (devil) fears when going into battle.

You keep the devil at bay by being spiritually prepared, conditioned, and focused on pleasing Him in every moment of the day.

Below is a battle plan the Apostle Paul outlined almost 2000 years ago, and it still works today.

A Fight to the Finish

10-12 And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.

13-18 Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out. (Ephesians 6:10-18 The Message)

John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

Journal your thoughts:

What am I grateful for today?

In what way(s) will I bring light to the world today?

What will I deny myself so I may draw closer to God and gain more peace in my life today?

Prayer:

God, I offer myself to Thee—To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always! Amen.
