Reflection
The opening quote made me think of all the blessings our dear Jordan has given us over the years.
For those of you who don’t know our family, on February 3, 1986, God blessed us with a special needs child, and we’ve learned so much from him.
Jordan has taught us never to get too high or too low.
Jordan has taught us how to be focused in the moment because it only takes him a second to fall and hurt himself–our local emergency room knows him much too well.
He’s taught us a bunch about unconditional love and trust.
He’s taught us about the joy that is delivered through a smile.
He’s taught us the blessings of helping someone who can’t help themselves.
He’s taught us to be grateful for the little things, like taking van rides, reading books, and walking with nature.
He’s forced us to slow our lives down and be good stewards of our waking hours.
Most importantly, he’s helped us understand the need to have God guide our lives, which is why we, Lori more than me, have calm hearts while on this journey with Jordan.
Question
Are you having trouble having peace in your life?
Answer
Go help someone in need.
Isaiah 32:17-18, “And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever. My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.”Â
Journal your thoughts:
What am I grateful for today?
In what way(s) will I bring light to the world today?
What will I deny myself to draw closer to God and gain more peace in my life today?
Prayer:
God, I offer myself to Thee—To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always! Amen.
