Lent Mindset Day 40 – Palm Sunday and True Love

He rode in on a borrowed donkey so He could purchase a broken world.

Reflection

We’ve all had those moments when we feel like things are going well, and then life hits us, and we feel as though we’ve been thrown to the curb.

No one knows this feeling better than Jesus.

Today is Palm Sunday, when Jesus was lifted as the King and Savior of the world. This moment in history eventually turned into hell week for Him. Still, He knew there was Light at the end of the tunnel and that Light gave Him the energy to endure the excruciating pain associated with dying a horrible death of crucifixion on a tree.

On Palm Sunday, Jesus entered Jerusalem to a crowd shouting praise, but many of the same voices would soon cry, “Crucify Him.”

Still, He rode in—knowing what was ahead. That’s what love does. It doesn’t turn back at the threat of betrayal or suffering. It moves forward anyway.

John 3:16-17, “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” (NIV)

As I’ve noted throughout this Lenten season, when developing a positive and resilient mindset, our mental state does not encounter any emotion that Jesus didn’t experience and overcome; thus, we should call upon Him first when our thoughts go sideways to prevent us from turning a difficult moment into our version of hell week.

Thought for the Day:
Christ’s endurance of hell week so that we may have eternal and abundant life is the ultimate demonstration of true love. We should NEVER take the happenings of this week for granted.

“Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” – Mark 11:9
