Over the past three weeks I’ve had the opportunity to spend ten full days working with and training leaders from various types of industries throughout the U.S. There is nothing more energizing for me than to spend time with people who want to grow and improve.
Here are some random thoughts about leadership…
-Everything rises and falls with leadership.
-If there are problems in an organization, the leader will find the cause of those problems by looking in the mirror.
-Honesty is the most important ingredient when it comes to being an effective leader.
-Effective leaders spend equal amounts of time in perfecting the present as they do in predicting the future.
-Effective leaders inspire around a vision and lead from a foundation of purpose and not fear.
-Effective leaders are in touch with reality…reality is found by listening to employees and customers.
-Effective leaders talk the least but when they do talk, people listen.
-Effective leaders are self-aware and confident, they don’t need others to build them up.
-Effective leaders create clarity and focus by creating a plan for their followers to help execute.
-Effective leaders build and serve their people.
-Effective leaders never think they are the best leaders…they are always growing.
-Effective leaders have discipline and self-control in their personal lives. They understand that the most important promises they need to keep are the ones they make to themselves.
-Effective leaders create effective leaders.
