Kind Wins

When you are kind to others, it not only changes you but it changes the world.

— Harold Kushner —

The opening quote is quite simple but very true. After reading it, I journaled some “the world according to Jay” thoughts:

I view the world and its contents as this massive ball of energy created and monitored by God.

There are two forms of energy–positive and negative.

Positive energy adds to the world.

Negative energy takes from the world.

As human beings, we play a significant role in the world’s energy supply.

In the simplest of views:

Every time we are mean to another, whether, through our behavior or our thoughts, we infuse negative energy into the world.

Every time we are kind to another, we add positive energy to the world.

For the world to contain more positive than negative energy, our collective kindness to others must exceed our meanness.

I hate to say it, but I believe our present world is running at a kindness deficit.

Back to the opening quote:

When forced to choose between being right and being kind, choose kind* and in turn change the world for the better.

Ephesians 4:31-32, “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
