Just Doing “It” for God

Proverbs 16:9 “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord determines his steps.”

As I was reading my daily Proverb the verse above jumped out at me and said “blog me.”  So I did.

One of the biggest challenges of living a life for God is to make certain that the direction we take in life is the direction God wants us to take.  There are some God-fearing people that get so hung up on which direction is right that they end up not doing anything.  I often hear “Jay I’ve prayed about “it” and I’ve sought wise counsel about my decision but God is just not telling me what to do.”  That usually means God has blessed you with more than one opportunity to choose from and it also indicates God didn’t give you free will to make your decisions for you.

I can count on two fingers how many times God has “told” me what to do.  If he told us everything to do, what would be the use of having a brain and free will?  He did not create us to be robots.  Although he doesn’t tell us what to do, he does his work through people, places and things to assist us in giving us guidance on what to do.  We simply need to be in a state of awareness to the opportunities that are in front of us.

God is opening doors of opportunity for us all of the time.  Whether or not we see these “God-opportunities” is dependent upon where we are in our faith walk.  As it says in the Proverb above, our plans are dependent upon where our heart is and if our heart is right and aligned with God then the majority of the time, when faced with multiple choices, all of the choices have God-opportunities attached to them.  Therefore none of the choices will be wrong and most of the time it comes down to how our priorities are lined up…of course, that is, if our number one prioritiy is our faith walk.  It is up to us to make the decision on which way to go (can you say free will?) and God will determine our steps (be there with us) as we are walking on new paths.

Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that when our faith walk is “job-one” then we can better discern “opportunities” satan puts in front of us and walk away from them.

Bottom line; if you are trying your best to lead a Godly life you will be given God-opportunities and whichever opportunity you choose to embark upon, God will be there with you guiding your steps along the way.

P.S.  Once you make your decision it is still up to you to PLAN, put forth the EFFORT, have the right ATTITUDE, draw strength from the COMMUNITY around you, and take care of your body so you will have the ENERGY  to make the most of the opportunity….P.E.A.C.E.
