Join Me In Prayer

To pray constantly only for ourselves is a mark of failure in prayer. It is in intercession for others that our faith and love and perseverance will be stirred up and that the power of the Spirit will be found to equip us for bringing salvation to people.

— Andrew Murray —

I wanted to give you all an update on my friend Bob who is in the middle of slaying a lion called Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

About ten days ago he sent a text to me that brought tears to my eyes. He informed me that his leukemia was in remission.

How cool is that?

But his battle is not over.

The doctors believe a bone marrow transplant is needed in order to keep the “lion” at bay.

To me, this would be like completing an Ironman triathlon and the next day being told I needed to complete another one–that day.

Bob will be admitted to The James in Columbus on December 18 and begin five days of conditioning chemotherapy preparing him for a bone marrow transplant which begins on December 23.

He will be in the hospital for four to six weeks after the transplant.

If you think 2020’s been tough on you–think about our friend Bob.

And that is exactly what this writing is about.

Could I please get you to send Bob, his family, and the medical team positive vibes in the form of thought and prayer over the next couple of months?

I will do my best to keep you updated on his progress.

A great way to remind yourself is to simply write the word “Bob” somewhere that you frequently cross paths with during your day.

There is so much power in prayer…I always write from experience.

In Bob’s most recent update that he sent to me, he signed off like he always does…

My training to run a marathon doesn’t stop for Leukemia. It may slow down at times during treatment, but it doesn’t stop. I choose not to be sick today. Thank you for your continued prayers.

2 Samuel 23:20, ” Benaiah son of Jehoiada, a valiant fighter from Kabzeel, performed great exploits. He struck down Moab’s two mightiest warriors. He also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion.”

Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
