It’s not just a day

…it should be a lifestyle.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Be joyful always; pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Earlier this week I caught wind that a friend of mine lost his job due to some downsizing.  There is probably no worse time to lose a job than during the holidays.  I gave my buddy a call to see if there was anything I could do.  For about thirty minutes I received a lesson on gratitude.

I’ve only known this man for three months but the first time we spoke there was a very strong connection because of our love for the Lord.  I could tell he was “all in.”  This man is somewhat of a celebrity and has accomplished things only a small number of men will ever accomplish.  Our conversation that day had nothing to do with his personal accomplishments, instead he was telling me the number of people he had brought to the Lord during his last public speaking appearance.

When I spoke with him this past week his love for the Lord did not waver and he was actually giving thanks to God for choosing a new direction for his life and yes he has a wife and large family to care for.

In the scripture from 1 Thessalonians above Paul tells us to celebrate Thanksgiving all day every day no matter what the circumstance.  It’s all about being aligned with God’s will and not mine.  I try my best, but I’m still a work in progress.  How about you?

Today I’m thankful for my new friend who has taught me peace, in the middle of battle and turmoil, is found by simply being thankful.

Wishing you a all a great Thanksgiving!

THANKS!
