Reflection
Chasing “shiny objects” has and will always be a major temptation for mankind.
When we chase shiny objects (objects come in the form of people, places, things, fame, etc…)–there is fundamental neglect of truly understanding and knowing ourselves on the inside.
Fact
When we do not know ourselves on the inside it is very difficult to connect with God.
Lookback
I used to chase shiny objects many years ago because I was running from reality, which is the primary reason we chase shiny objects.
When I finally “came to” at the age of twenty-eight, I spent the next couple of decades of my life getting my “inside” right.
In essence, I spent a third of my life finding out what doesn’t work by always seeking “the outside, shiny stuff,” a third of my life finding out what does work by working on “my inside stuff,” and I plan on spending the rest of my life helping others work through their stuff so their lives may shine from the inside out.
