Good Morning

Peace is found when we do what we were built to do.

One of the reasons I took a hiatus from my EagleLaunch writings is because I needed to make sure I was focused on 3 new goals I set for myself back in 2017.

  1. Make a positive impact on the post-acute pharmacy industry.
  2. Finish my 3rd book–Recovery is a Verb.
  3. Run a full Ironman Triathlon.

I’m in a pretty good groove with these 3 goals, so I decided to reactivate my EagleLaunch website for the time being.

One thing I will be doing on a weekly basis is writing about my various experiences building up to my Ironman scheduled to take place on September 29, in Cambridge Maryland.

I just completed my 17th week (out of 30), of training…and I’m still healthy and feeling really good. That is the key for this old man. I’ve been very disciplined in following a program developed by a former world champion and this is the first time I’ve trained based on my heart rate.

Training takes 10 to 12 hours of my time each week as a full Ironman entails swimming 2.5 miles, biking 112 miles and running a marathon (26.2 miles) all in the same day.

Between work, family, writing and training, I have very little time for anything else which keeps me focused and out of trouble. 🙂

The biggest lessons I’ve learned through my training to this point:

  • A BHAG (Big Harry Audacious Goal) will not be achieved without a well thought out plan and the discipline and focus to execute the plan.
  • Execution of the plan is a day at a time process.

Talk to you soon!

1 Corinthians 9:24-27, “24 Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 25 All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26 So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. 27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.
