Selfless Instead of Selfies

There is a section in all bookstores titled "Self-Help." Imagine what the world would be like if there were a section titled "Help Others"?

Reflection

We live in a very self-absorbed world.

Our world and its people post over 90 million selfies daily.

If you are in the minority and do not know what “posting a selfie” is, a person takes a picture of herself and posts it on the World Wide Web, usually through social media.

The devil has done a marvelous job of getting us to focus on ourselves through social media.

Sadly, even when people do good deeds for others, they post it on their social media accounts.

You could chalk this post up to me simply being a grumpy old man, but this old man has lived long enough to know when we shine the spotlight on ourselves, there’s little light to shine on those who need it the most.

Challenge yourself to spend a week looking out for the interest of others without telling a soul…that’s what living for God is all about.

True humility doesn’t mean I think less of myself. It means I think of myself less.  ~C.S. Lewis

Philippians 2:4, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others.”

Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
