It takes intentional preparation, thought and action to overcome a bad habit or to start and continue a new productive habit.
“Think first and then respond” is an ability only human beings have. Â All other animals simply respond based upon the type of animal they are and what their instincts tell them. Â Don’t be an animal with your habits be human and THINK first.
One of our HabitFast Journey members emailed me her scoring system for her journey and it really correlates with the quote above:
5-I didn’t even think about my bad habit much less do it.
4-I thought about it but used my tools to move on.
3-I thought about it and stayed there but didn’t do it.
2-I thought about it and did it anyway.
1-I did it without thinking about it.
Great stuff!
HabitFast Journey Action Steps:
1. Â Start the day-reflect, meditate, journal and prayerfully turn your plan over to God.
2.  Continue the day- stay in conscience contact with God.
3. Â End of day evaluation- reflect, review, journal and give yourself a grade for the day.
4. Â End of day planning-review your HabitFast Plan and note your 3 “big rocks” for tomorrow.
5.  End of day prayer-place your plan, big rocks, negative triggers and tomorrow in God’s hands.
Romans 7:19, “For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do–this I keep on doing.” (NIV)
