The quote attributed to Rabbi Kushner is so true.
When I crashed my bicycle and broke my hip back in May, I was devastated. I was training to do a 2nd Ironman Triathlon and was well ahead of my training from the previous year. A few days after my accident, I found myself growing a very large ring around my buttocks due to spending an extensive amount of time on the pity-pot.
Then eleven days into my recovery I received news that my dad had incurable lung cancer.
Since I was unable to work, I was able to spend some valuable quality time with dad in his final days–as he only lived for one week after receiving his diagnosis.
I’m forever grateful for the time I got to spend with dad in his waning moments on earth. That time would not have been available if I hadn’t crashed my bike.
There is truly a silver lining in all situations…we just need to look for it.
Whenever the devil is trying to pull you down, force yourself to look up and He will guide your thoughts to a happy place or time…I write from experience.
1 Thessalonians 5:18, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”Â
