Gratititude and Being Wise

He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.

— Epictetus —

When I saw the opening quote my mind immediately went to one of the devil’s most frequently used mediums for getting us to believe we aren’t enough or we don’t have enough…smartphones and social media.

There are all kinds of data indicating that suicide among teenagers has increased substantially since the advent of smartphones and social media. Problems associated with cyberbullying continue to escalate while some kids simply “bully” themselves by comparing their lives to others and thinking they “aren’t enough.”

I think it’s safe to assume adults with low self-esteem are also being negatively impacted through their addiction to social media.

What a waste of time.

What a waste of life.

End of rant.

Rejoice in who you are and what you have–God has given you plenty of both and if other people, places, and things are trying to convince you otherwise–DETACH AND DISCONNECT.

Parents of young children–be careful–the internet is the devil’s playground.

Ephesians 5:29, “For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church,”
