Yesterday morning the following scripture grabbed my attention: “Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you.” (Psalm 55:22)
Notice the scripture doesn’t say that God will take care of our burdens. What it does say is He will take care of us.
Ever since I quit turning my burdens over to alcohol and drugs, God has served as my “burden-dump” and he’s always taken care of me without causing me to have hangovers and/or guilt and shame. 🙂
What’s weighing you down?
Are there burdens you are carrying that need to be handed over to God?
If you turn your burdens over to God, keep in mind He usually works through scripture, His people or other things like nature. Make sure your eyes, ears, and heart are all prepared to accept Him when He comes to care for you.
If your life is currently burden-free–maybe God is calling you to be his hands and feet by caring for someone who’s hauling a heavy load at this time.
