God-Confidence

We don't need self-confidence we need God-confidence.

— Joyce Meyer —

This is a post from a couple of years ago, and although the pandemic has passed, our world still seems to be in a highly anxious state.

I was blessed to be on some pretty good college basketball teams during my days at Ohio Northern University but none better than the team we had my final year. We had amazing chemistry as teammates that year because we believed in each other, we trusted each other (i.e, we protected each others’ backs), and most importantly, we had confidence in each of our unique gifts and abilities as basketball players.

When the going got tough, we pulled through by relying on the special chemistry that bound us together… Belief + Trust + Confidence.

I can say the same thing about my high school basketball team as well as the executive team we had while I served as President of HealthCare Pharmacy.

The above trip down memory lane rolled through my mind as I was doing a morning devotional a few days ago.

The scripture was focused on Jeremiah 17:7-9, “Most blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.”

During this time of high-level uncertainty, it is vital to believe, trust, and put our confidence in the One who is certain and all-knowing.

Who is your belief, trust, and confidence in these days–self, others, or God?

Said differently, with whom do you rely to peacefully navigate you through these choppy waters?

If you feel as though your “chemistry” is off, I’m guessing you’re putting too much belief, trust, and confidence in the world.

Psalm 121:1-2, “I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.” (MSG)
