Glory Bumps

Still your waters.

Reflection

This past Sunday, I went to a local prairie with a camera in hand to capture some photos of birds. It was a brisk, sunny day with a complete blanket of snow serving as a beautiful backdrop.

A river borders the prairie I went to, and in that river is a bold and majestic waterfall. A platform above the cascade makes you feel like you are in the water going over the falls. So I stood on that platform and readied my camera and lens for some fantastic shots as I began to scan the area for my fine feathered friends.

I waited, and I waited, and I waited.

There were no birds anywhere.

So I accepted defeat and began the trek through the calf-high snow back to my truck.

Then I was struck by a sound.

Greenville Falls, Covington, Ohio

The sound of the waterfall.

A sound that pulled me back and caused me to lose myself in the moment. A sound that disappeared as I stood in awe, viewing one of nature’s most amazing gifts.

I remained still for several minutes while the Holy Spirit filled my soul and gave me glory bumps (a term used often by my friend, Dustina).

He stilled the water and stilled my soul.

Where do you go to still your water and grow your glory bumps?

There is One who will do both, anytime, anywhere, if you allow Him.

Mark 4:39, “And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”
