As most of you know, I have a friend (Bob) who’s been battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia for seven months. I received a very uplifting text yesterday from him and am excited to share it will all of you.
Hey Jay. Today is Day 50 post-transplant, and I’m halfway through the first 100 days that are the most critical in my recovery. I received the results from the bone marrow biopsy taken last week. All great news!!! There are no signs of Leukemia in my bone marrow, and none of the WBC’s have the FLT3 mutation marker on them. Also, they performed a Chimerism test, and the results came back 100% donor on the WBC’s, RBC’s & Platelets. The doctors are extremely pleased with how I am recovering. I’m slowly starting to feel like my old self again. I’m walking more, and based upon my fatigue level; I am getting anywhere from 3 to 5 miles in a day. My next milestone will come around Day 100. My training (& desire) to run a marathon hasn’t stopped for Leukemia. It has slowed down at times but never stopped. I choose not to be sick today. Thank you for your continued Prayers. Bob
Bob’s journey this past year is a story of grit and faithfulness…making the most of God’s gift of life to him.
KEEP THE PRAYERS ROLLING!
Romans 5:3-5, “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
“Over time, grit is what separates fruitful lives from aimlessness.†~John Ortberg
