This has been an interesting year, to say the least.
Uncertainty creates some funky mental states…the devil loves playing in our funky mental states.
Several weeks ago I came down with a severe case of writer’s block.
For my creative friends, you know what I’m talking about.
It’s like the right side of my brain had shut down.
Writing is an outlet for me. I don’t write for all of you as much as I write for myself. Ordering and expelling thoughts in writing to the world is cathartic for me.
A few days ago I did an inventory on why I was having such a difficult time writing and the little positive voice inside my head (AKA The Holy Spirit) said, “Tighten up your morning routine.
My morning routine, which I very seldom waver from, includes:
- An hour with my Maker and the Good Book prior to daybreak,
- At least an hour of exercise of which includes eating a protein bar prior,
- And a healthy breakfast (two hard-boiled eggs).
I’ve been doing my morning routine all throughout the pandemic but the times have varied. I found myself getting up later, (5:30 am is my magic number) and some days I didn’t exercise until I found some time in the afternoon.
Needless to say, getting back into my old schedule for my morning routine lifted the lid off of my writer’s block. We shall see what it leads to but I wanted to share this story with you because I believe there is no better way to start your day than to start it with God, exercise, and healthy food.
