Reflection
During the pandemic, I started taking afternoon naps…thirty minutes or less, with my favorite old TV shows playing in the background.
Perry Mason, Matlock, and Matt Dillon from Gunsmoke all share something I admire: they’re bold yet humble. And like Father Time, they’re undefeated. I like winners. 🙂
Fact
Rest isn’t a reward for finishing everything—it’s a discipline for ongoing renewal and sustaining what matters.
Many driven people struggle to slow down, believing rest equals laziness.
Jesus modeled the opposite. He withdrew regularly to pray, recover, and reconnect with the Father.
Rest sharpens clarity by restoring perspective and strength.
Today, release the guilt. Slow your pace, breathe deeply, and trust that God is at work even when you pause.
Rest prepares you to lead with greater wisdom and energy…I always write from experience.
Soul Search
Do I allow myself to rest without guilt?
What kind of rest restores me most?
Mark 6:31, “And he said to them, ‘Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.”
