Fog and Clarity

Sometimes we need the fog to remind ourselves that all of life is not black and white.

— Jonathan Lockwood Huie —

This morning I write as fog engulfs our surroundings.

Fog represents the mysterious side of life.

You know it’s there, but you can’t see it.

You can walk through it, albeit with a bit of apprehension from afar because you can’t see the other side.

When you walk through it, the distant shore is not distant at all.

Kind of like life.

We wait and ponder whether or not to do something.

The fog of the unknown casts a shadow on our confidence.

Those who understand fog is not a barrier but simply a mist that adds to the unknown nature of things progress quite well in life.

Those whose souls become overwhelmed with the mystic nature of fog live life in place; they never move on.

Comfort is their vision, action, and purpose.

There is no progress in comfort.

Progress has delivered comfort to us in many ways, shapes, and forms.

But comfort gets us nowhere.

I choose the fog as my guide for it leads me to places I’ve never journeyed.

And more importantly, clarity always awaits on the other side of the fog.

Isaiah 30:21, “And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.”
