James 1:19…”All Wrathed Up”

Be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.

— James 1:19 —

Swift to hear…take the cotton out of your ears and put it in your mouth and listen with the intent to understand and not comment.

Slow to speak…at the end of the day, people could give a crap about what we say as our actions always speak louder.

Slow to wrath…understanding what we can and cannot control will slow our wrath down and decrease the number of times we act like a jack ass.

Hearing clearly, speaking slowly and not getting all “wrathed” up really helps with our serenity and focus…I write from experience.

Do you listen with the intent to understand?

Is your spoken word louder than your actions?

Do you lose your serenity because of the inability to not become angry and defensive when things don’t go your way?

Galatians 5:22-23, But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.” (MSG)

Heavenly Father please help me live my life as James directs me in his book so that I may reap the fruits of Your Spirit as Paul states in Galatians. Please help me remember–I can’t, You can, I think I’ll let you.
