What’s Important?

When you focus on what is important, it's a lot more difficult to be distracted.

Have you ever taken the time to write down what is important to you?

I have a list of Imperatives that I review at the beginning and end of each day. When I review them at the beginning of the day, I gain focus on what is important. When I review them at the end of the day I assess how focused my day was.

Here are my Imperatives:

  1. My spiritual, mental and physical health
  2. My wife
  3. My children and grandchildren
  4. Other family members
  5. Creative space
  6. Those I serve professionally
  7. Friends
  8. Recovery community

Imperatives 1 through 4 are in order of importance. Imperatives 5 through 8 are interchangeable based upon what I am doing that particular day.

What’s important to you? What are your Imperatives?

Do the activities of your daily life reflect your Imperatives?

Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
